WHAT WE DO
To advance and further patient safety and the practice of anesthesiology in Illinois through education, representation and advocacy of the Illinois anesthesiologist.
Racism Undermines Public Health!
The ISA believes that racism undermines public health. We stand in solidarity against racism, violence and intolerance wherever it may occur. Included in our mission is ensuring all patients are treated with dignity and respect. This extends beyond the operating room. We will help any patient in need and we support the health and safety of every person.
ISA pledges to be a proactive voice that serves to educate our communities on how racism impacts our health. We promise to listen to our members and be part of the solution that helps our Black physicians.
ILLINOIS VOTERS HAVE SPOKEN
94% want a physician led team administering anesthesia for their family (only 4% want a nurse anesthetist without physician supervision).
64% oppose Illinois legislation permiting nurse anesthetists to administer anesthesia & respond to anesthesia emergencies without the involvement of a physician.
The new avalanche of administrative requirements with ICD10, MACRA, and every other acronym seems overwhelming if not depressing. It’s a great feeling to discover that no anesthesiologist is alone in this modern world. Illinois has an amazing talent pool to meet any challenge. Being a member of ISA helps me feel good about being a physician these days.
Usually held in March
Annual event held in Springfield when we canvass the state capitol to speak to legislators and explain the perspective of physician anesthesiologists. Anesthesiologists must remain engaged with those who implement the changes that will ultimately affect patient safety.
ISA House of Delegates
Meeting held every April for members to get updates on issues and future legislation that could impact anesthesiology, vote on resolutions, and have a voice in what ISA supports each year.
